Saronic Island

The one-day cruise from Piraeus to the Archipelago Island islands of Hydra , Aegina, and Póros remains popular atraction for tourists visiting Athens as well as favorite weekend destiantions for Greeks . When the cruise ships mingle with the ferries, the hydrofoils and the catamarans, there is often a virtual traffic jam on the waters. This Three islands forms part of a group of seven Islands in Athens called Saronic Island.
Hydra
Visitors on their first time to Hydra immediately notice the rocky bare hillsides and that there are no cars in the village.It is said that there are laws against cars and motorcycles in this village.The only means of transport is either by foot, horses, donkeys or mules as well as water taxis.However hydra is a small and compact village that areas within are accesible by foot. It is a rather quaint Island with its postcard-perfect harbour bracketed by grey-stone mansions and Byzantine houses. and many others ever since. This Island attracts the artistic and the fashionable.

Poros
As one approaches Poros town on a boat ride,what comes into view first is the sight of the pyramidal, orange-roofed town culminating in a blue-and-white hilltop clock tower which characterizes Saronics.It is slightly larger than Hydra but equally Picturesque. It has a population of about 4,000 inhabitants which is far smaller than that of major cities in the world. It also has hills and mountains. The spectacular beauty of this town attracts a lot of tourist along with Athenian weekenders and second-home owners.It is said that several books eulogizes the beauty of Poros town.

 Aegina
Aegina’s main attraction is the exceptionally beautiful Temple of Aphaea, on a pine-tufted hilltop commanding a splendid view of the gulf. The island of Aegina is quite green with forest and there are plenty of small coves with sand beaches.It is said that two-third of Aegina Island was an extinct Volcano site which is on the southern part of the town. The southern part is mostly mountainous while the northern parts are plains. The people of Aegina boast of Private Islands where people swim and partake in other fun activities.You can either opt for a speed boat ride to a private Island for a swim or visit a Museum in the town.
